Outdoor Activities to Keep You Happy and Healthy

Bariatric surgery is a life changing opportunity.  Not only does it provide you with improved health and beautiful curves, but it gives you the confidence to live an active lifestyle.  If you have experienced weight loss surgery, it’s time to get outdoors and experience all that life has to offer.  Be bold, be courageous, and show off the new you.

Outdoor workouts can be as customized and unique as you want.  Besides the typical exercises of running around the neighborhood or speed-walking on a trail, you can achieve powerful results without the use of equipment and tools.  Here are some tips to push yourself and gain the toned physique you’re ready for.

Of course, you need to get your cardio workout completed before working on muscle mass.  But don’t limit yourself.  Look for hills and winding curves.  Find a scenic route or go hiking; just make sure your heart rate is up and ready for a tough workout.

Once you’ve completed your cardio and stretched, it’s time to get to work.  Begin with long jumps.  For this exercise, you’ll need a mat or towel as a distance marker.  Starting at the foot of the mat, jump as far as you can.  Make your way back to the foot of the mat and begin the exercise again until you have completed 10 repetitions.

Next, keep your mat or towel down and do pushups.  You either love or hate pushups, but they are a guaranteed tone mechanism.  Push through the pain and doubt and keep going until you’ve completed this exercise 10 times.

Clear the area for this next exercise, you’re doing sumo squats.  It’s grueling, it’s deep, and it is well worth it.  With your feet a little further spread than your hips, turn your toes facing away from your body slightly and complete a squat.  You should do 15 repetitions of this exercise.

These might seem easy or elementary, but they are outdoor workout exercise requiring no equipment, except for a towel or mat, and guarantee results.  Get a little closer to nature and push through the pain.  You’ll love seeing your hard work pay off.

This next exercise might send you running so glue yourself in your seat and get ready.  It’s time to do 15 burpees.  This exercise is a several step process.  Standing, jump up, come down into a squat, move your hands to your mat, jump back into plank, move your feet to your hands in a jump movement, stand up, and clap above your head.  It’s a lot of work, but it works a lot of muscles.  You’ll love the effects of this one.

Finally, get your mat back out, lie on your back and get ready for bicycle crunches—20 to be exact.  Bend your knees to your chest, put your hands behind your head, twist your body from side to side reaching your elbow to your knee while crunching.

These outdoor workouts will give you a toned physique in no time.  And the best part?  It requires no equipment.
