How Gastric Bypass and SADI-S Work

To achieve weight-loss, Gastric Bypass restricts food intake and promotes food malabsorption. The stomach is divided to create a small pouch that connects to a loop of the small intestine. The procedure reduces the size of the stomach significantly, causing the patient to feel satisfied with only a small amount of food. After surgery, you will not only eat significantly less but you’ll also absorb less food than you consume, leading to significant weight-loss. Gastric Bypass surgery performed laparoscopically minimizes pain and speeds up the recovery process when compared to other procedures.

With a SADI-S procedure, the existing Sleeve stays intact and the top part of the small intestine (called the duodenum) is separate from the bottom of the stomach. Then the lower part of the small intestine is attached to the bottom of the stomach. This shortens the length of the intestine, reducing calorie absorption and changing the gut-brain signal effecting hunger and satiety.

Gastric Bypass and SADI-S surgery are performed laparoscopically, which minimizes pain and speeds up the recovery process when compared to other procedures.
